About the Author

Chuck Klosterman is the bestselling author of six nonfiction books (most notably Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs and I Wear the Black Hat) and two novels (Downtown Owl and The Visible Man). While the build and print quality is good, the questions are just too specificSure, a few of them can be thought provoking and someone may have an interesting answer, I think the situations could have been at least 30-60% less detailed to allow more flexibility in answeringMaybe my friends and I just aren't that imaginative?

Some of these scenarios are rather interesting, but then the way the question is worded makes the answer obvious. Like "would you do X for Y" with X being completely unreasonable and Y not being nearly enough of a motivation to do X. Several of my friends and I put the cards down after going through about 10 of them. The potential here is great - the execution? Not so much

These are awful. By the time you are 1/4 of the way through reading one of these, everyone is scratching their heads trying to follow the 16-part hypothetical that, by the end, is not really that clever or interesting. The author was way less interested in creating stimulating conversations, much more interested in being "weird" and "shocking." And then there's ones like (again, after a million-part, not-interesting hypothetical) "would you sleep with a homeless person to save blah blah blah..." Shut up, Chuck.

Great game to play with a group of friends. For the people who say it is boring, they must have no imagination or explain why they answer yes or no to a question. Group of five people spent three hours on ten cards.

The questions are funny!Like for example if you had to eat a human to survive would you pick a baby or an old person...Boyfriend and I loved it , we only got through like 4 cards though. It’s nice size! Great game

These were recommended to me by a friend, as a fun, different party activity. I wasn't sure how these would go over with people I hardly knew, but they were an absolute hit. The great thing about these is that they are relatively free of vulgarity, while being so very funny and unique. Everyone at the party chimed in, even those who were shy and hadn't said much before. These cards are off the wall, absolutely nuts, and freaking awesome.

Chuck is one of my favorite authors, and his HYPERtheticals, which can be found in some of his books, are insane conversation starters and thought provokers. They are a lot of fun to drop at parties or social gatherings, and always illicit unexpected and fun results.

Each one of the cards in this deck has a really interesting hypothetical to start a crazy conversation. As an example: What if you could watch a movie of your dreams, but you had to let your family and friends watch as well - would you do it?I've had a lot of fun posing some of these questions to people I know. This is a really fun deck and would be a really great gift for the conversationally challenged.

Through detailed case studies, Risse-Kappen shows that the Europeans affected security decisions concerning vital U.S. interest during the 1950-1953 Korean war, the 1958-1963 test ban negotiations, and the 1962 Cuban missile crisis--all during a span of time in which the U.S. enjoyed undisputed economic and military supremacy in the alliance. He situates these case studies within a theoretical framework demonstrating that the European influence on decision-making processes in Washington worked through three mechanisms: norms prescribing timely consultations among the allies, use of domestic pressures for leverage in transatlantic interactions, and transnational and transgovernmental coalitions among societal and bureaucratic actors. The book's findings have important repercussions for the post-Cold War era in that they suggest the transatlantic security community is likely to survive the end of the Soviet threat.
